Khaya Mthethwa

His upbringing is inspired by his originality from a Christian family and a Son of Pastors Themba & Lulu Mthethwa who are full time ministers of the Word of God at Umlazi Oasis Fellowship Centre, in W section. Khaya Holds a diploma in Project management and is currently studying Theology. He is born performer and he has performed for adoring fans alongside kirk franklin, Byron cage, Miguel, Joyous Celebration, Ntokozo Mbambo, and Israel Houghton, to mention a few.

Crowned the Season 8 winner of South African Idols, a reality show which is aired on DSTV channels M-Net and Mzansi Magic. He scooped his title with a whopping 2.5 million of the 3 million votes overall casted during airing of the show. He is well known for his hard work and for his spiritual bound personality. The fruits of his hard work have been visible amongst others; in his latest and superlative debut album, Titled: "For You", which was released on the 22nd of November 2012. This has set him to be nominated for variety of awards including being the first idol to scoop the Metro FM Award in the "Best Newcomer Category" he is a SAMA award winner in the RnB/Reggae Category amongst other nominations in major categories. He won the first season of clash of the choirs, then won best newcomer at the You magazine awards, and on the 30th of November 2013 he won the most coveted best newcomer music video award at the Africa channel O music awards.

What sets Mthethwa apart is his creativity, flair and genius arrangements, coupled with a dedicated and focused work ethic that leaves no question that he it's here to stay. Khaya is a singer, songwriter, composer and arranger who is particularly proficient at working across genres - without so much as breaking a sweat. He is a motivational speaker, a life coach and represents different brands to reach out to people across the continent. He is now also a presenter and music director for his very own gospel talk and music show Gospel Alive, which started on the 3rd of November 2013 and is aired every Sunday night at 7pm on DSTV channel 161 Mzansi Magic.

He is also known as a choir member of the well-established gospel group in South Africa and the whole of the African continent, the multi award wining group, Joyous Celabration. He is a Nelson Mandela children's hospital ambassador tasked to raise awareness and raise funds for the new hospital in honor of the life of the late President Nelson Mandela.

He is extensively involved in youth development in the various township of SA furthermore being a youth leader and minister of the word at his home church, leading over 800 young people. This is where he is a mentor and a big brother to young men Growing up in the township encouraging them to get an education and never involve themselves in drugs and alcohol abuse.

Khaya is passionate about the youth and industry of the arts as a whole, having founded his own foundation called The Khaya Mthethwa Arts Foundations, which serves to speak into young peoples lives and inspire them to build careers and lives that are full of self respect, and purpose driven goals. This foundation has seen how our people are having successful careers but when their lime light fades they are not adequately insured or do not have a financial plan to support their families after great success in the industry. The KMAF also encourages people that are in the arts fraternal to think about their futures financially responsibilities and encourage them to to invest from an early age and save for their retirement, to safe guard their futures financially.
