Cassper's New Store

Multi Bentley-onaire Cassper "Abuti Fill Up" Nyovest has announced, on his twitter page that he will be launching his long awaited merchandise store. The superstar rapper has claimed that this has been a long time dream of his. We wonder if there will be ponytails on sale at this merchandise shop. Hmmmm In multiple colours hey? In 2015 Cassper and friends Ricky Rick lanuched a Pop up merch store in sandton and if you lived anywhere or visited anywhere near any small town or Kasi in 2014 you would've seen the multitudes of kids running around in Nyovest inspred attire so this might not... more

Ultra Countdown

Possibly one of the best things to be imported into South Africa in the past decade is Ultra Music festival. Before it was lanuched here, all we had was awesome aftermovie images of all kinds of madness and fun and djs rocking decks and what looks like drug infused frenzy dances and jumping. Luckiy it's 2017 and 4 years later Ultra is rocking once again. Only a month left to go witness the madness yourself if you haven't. What really knocks about this gig is that you don't need heels or too much makeup or bucket loads of champagne. You're there to jam and thats' that. One month to go.... more

Jack Parrow drops Brandy

Well, a lot seems to be happening in the urban music scene in South Africa, especially in the hiphop circles. A few years ago artists would scramble for small change and limited gigs. They would huddle up in random cyphers with no money for taxis to go home so they'd be forced to drink and rap all night. Now it seems like all that hard work is starting to pay off. Or is it? Well, as most things in life go, the people who plant the tree are seldom the ones who get to enjoy the shade. Rappers of this era seems to be getting the love that the rappers of the past era knew they deserved or... more

It's that time of the year when artists have to show up again now. We're back from December holidays. We're over 2016 pains and it's hits. We demand new heat so every artists is aware now. Splitting from Cashtime, after his mildly successful and award nominated debut EP title 3 Quarter pace, KidX went on to join Kwesta to form a label called Raplyf Records and have announced that they will be dropping their first material this coming thursday. Four songs on the fourth day of the week from all the four artists of the record label! Nice!!! Right? It has a four horsemen ring to it. Me likes... more

Chad Da Don and LocnVille Sold to Lucifer

Proudly South African band LocnVille and rapper, used to be best friends with Cassper Nyovest but not anymore, Chad Da Don came together one fine evening to producer a track called Wasted. It recieved mild attention on SA media but knowing my people it seems like it will become an even bigger hit because now according to Locnville, the song has been snatched to feature on the American TV show, Lucifer. Yeeeah! Congratulations boys, you've sold your soul (music) to the devil. [video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hmyJ8-FSdI]

SAMA boss makes changes

The South African Music Awards (SAMAs) are adding three categories for SAMA23. These are: the Best African Indigenous Gospel album (Clap & Tap/Zion Music), Best Africa Artist album and Best AfroPop album. Thobela Dlamini, chairperson of SAMAs explains,  “What informed the change is the industry. People expressed the need to see AfroPop back into the fold and we couldn’t say no. The same thing again with the Best African Indigenous Gospel category. There was an outcry from the Scrapyard and Isicathamiya community and we had to answer. We had to give them the platform as well,” he... more
